Position title
Electrical Technician (Wire Person/Panel Builder)
Description

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be a qualified wire person/panel builder to join our Engineering team to work on building customised new machinery projects. We need someone who is ready to ‘hit the ground running’ with some basic training, able to follow schematics, verbal instructions and basic drawings.

Typical tasks include:

  • Building and wiring electrical control cabinets to IEC standards, including DIN rail mounting, cable duct routing, and terminal wiring.
  • Machine field wiring – routing and terminating cables throughout the machine structure, including power supplies (Meanwell), contactors, MCBs, fuses, and solid-state relays.
  • Wiring and installing safety circuits including force-guided relays, safety interlock switches, E-stop push buttons, reed switches, and RFID key control systems.
  • Mechanical assembly of machine sub-assemblies – including fitting guards, enclosure panels, wire fixturing, etc.
  • Reading and working confidently from electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Installing and connecting systems including network cameras, fume extraction units, and Siemens HMI touchscreens.
  • Machine diagnostics and functional testing – powering up builds, checking circuits, and supporting commissioning and sign-off.
  • Working closely with Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to deliver projects on time and to a high standard.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience as a panel builder and/or machine wirer – you know how a tidy, well-routed cabinet should look and you’ve built them before.
  • Confident reading and working from electrical schematics and mechanical drawings – this is essential.
  • A team player who likes interacting with people to get things done.
  • A practical person who takes pride in their work and doesn’t cut corners – quality and safety matter on our builds.
  • ‘Knows their stuff’ and can work with minimal supervision when needed.
  • Will need your own transport and/or able to commute daily.

What you’ll get

  • Product training and project appreciation.
  • Varied work and projects.
  • Competitive rate
  • A friendly team where help is always on hand – and where we keep things straightforward.
