Nexus is a configurable CO₂ laser tube welding system developed for medical tubing and high-performance polymer assemblies.
Live pyrometer feedback continuously adjusts laser output to maintain the defined process temperature, while vision-guided alignment and sweeping laser motion support consistent processing across part-to-part variation.
Repeatable polymer tube welding depends on controlling more than laser power alone. Nexus combines active temperature feedback, controlled beam delivery and vision-guided positioning to reduce process variation at the points where it matters.
Live pyrometer feedback continuously monitors the process temperature and adjusts laser output in response to maintain the defined temperature profile. This helps compensate for process variation and supports consistent thermal input from part to part.
Fixed-spot laser processes can be highly sensitive to exact joint positioning. Nexus sweeps the laser across a defined processing area, reducing sensitivity to minor positional variation and the risk of incomplete processing if the joint is not perfectly centred.
Nexus can be configured around the component geometry and required processing method,
with rotary spindle and three-beam processing options available.
For applications requiring controlled circumferential processing, the component can be rotated during the weld cycle at speeds of up to 200 rpm.
For applications where component rotation is not appropriate, Nexus can be configured with a three-beam processing module to deliver energy around the component.
Built for Process Development and Repeatable Production
Nexus is designed to support polymer tube welding from initial process development through to low- and medium-volume manufacturing.
Recipe-driven operation, controlled user access, guided machine initialisation and production logging help maintain process consistency across operators and production batches, while application-specific tooling and configurable processing options allow the system to be developed around the component.
