What is femtosecond laser processing?

A femtosecond laser emits pulses lasting 10⁻¹⁵ seconds—so short that material is removed before heat can transfer to the surrounding area.

Instead of melting or burning material, femtosecond lasers break molecular bonds directly, resulting in highly controlled material removal with minimal thermal impact.

This enables:

  • Ultra-clean edges
  • No recast or burr formation
  • Minimal or zero heat-affected zone (HAZ)
  • Preservation of underlying material properties
